Each year, ARES grants an average of 130 scholarships within the framework of bachelor’s degrees within the framework of continuing education to nationals of its partner countries.

Presentation of the scholarship

The nurse specializing in pediatrics and neonatology performs in hospital and/or extra-hospital care services adapted to the child and his family.

The training serves a dual purpose:

  • put the “Child-Caregiver-Family” triangle at the heart of the profession/practice through a vision based on a community and systemic contribution to health care;
  • broaden the skills to the technical, cultural and social aspects necessary for the practice of the profession in a multicultural and international setting.

At the end of his training, the student will be able to:

  1. Examine their knowledge and practices, in an intercultural approach
  2. Analyze a clinical situation in pediatric care
  3. Develop coping strategies to cope with stress and manage emotions
  4. Argue in an interdisciplinary team about their ethical approach in order to make decisions
  5. Integrate the legislation and regulations in force in the context of care.
  6. Propose solutions for the sound management of human, material and administrative resources
  7. Develop intervention projects compatible with the caregiver-child-family triangle
  8. Coordinate the interventions, with the partners of the interdisciplinary team
  9. Adapt your communication to the context with newborns, premature or term
  10. Structure your communication to collaborate effectively with colleagues from different disciplines
  11. Provide specific and integrated interventions appropriate to the age and development of newborns
  12. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to evaluate care interventions by constantly contextualizing them.

Conditions of admission

The admission requirements are as follows:

  • hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing or hold a state diploma in nursing;
  • have submitted an application for recognition to the equivalences service (document issued by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation);
  • be able to justify professional experience in the field in the field of pediatrics and/or neonatology of at least 3 years;
  • master the French language.

The selection test with the candidates will be based on the following elements:

  • presentation of the motivation letter specifying how the candidate envisages the usefulness of the Specialized Bachelor for his future professional career;
  • be able to demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts in pediatric nursing.

The introduction of a scholarship application must be made according to the introduction procedures and meet the admissibility criteria described below.

The selection of scholarship holders is carried out by a selection panel for each course after analysis of their administrative admissibility by ARES.

All files received between the first and the last day of the call will be treated equally.

ARES encourages female candidates, for equal quality, the female candidate will be preferred.

Admissibility criteria

Applying for an ARES scholarship is totally free.

ARES does not charge any fees at any stage of the application or selection process whatsoever.

For the application to be admissible, the candidate must:

  1. Has the nationality, resides and works in one of the countries mentioned above.
  2. Hold a diploma comparable to a Belgian 1st cycle diploma
  3. Evidence of relevant professional occupation
  4. Complete the file in the language in which the training is given and can attest to a good written and spoken knowledge of it.
  5. Apply for one course only.

The selection phase is carried out by a deliberative jury organized for each course.

ARES grants the selection jury the right to assess the compliance of the files with the common selection criteria described below, taken individually or in combination with each other.
