Description of the scholarship:

Funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Education and Training, the International Research Training Program (IRTP) scholarship is open to high-level research doctoral (PhD) students who are new to start and who demonstrate a outstanding academic performance and research potential.

The IRTP covers tuition fees, the cost of Standard Overseas Student Health Coverage (OSHC) for the scholarship recipient, spouse and dependents (if applicable), and a living allowance at the minimum indexed rate established by the Australian government.

The University of Technology Sydney offers the International Research Training Program (IRTP) scholarship to students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and research potential. The grant is funded by the Australian Government, Department of Education and Training.

The UTS Funding Program supports motivated candidates pursuing a Higher Research Degree (HDR) as an international student for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Founded in 1988, the University of Technology Sydney is considered one of the largest youth universities in the world and offers various degree courses and training programs for students. It enrolls 45,930 students, including 33,070 graduates and 12,860 postgraduates in its 9 faculties and schools.

There is no separate application form for IRTP scholarships for prospective students. By completing a single form, you will be considered for all associated scholarships (including IRS and UTSP).

Other Information:

To be eligible for the IRTP, a student must:

  • undertaking a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) as an overseas student as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003 (Cth) at the University in the year of the IRTP scholarship (IRTP scholarships do not are not available to applicants whose enrollment in a postgraduate research program has not been accepted by the University) in an HDR-accredited course; and
  • not receive a scholarship, stipend or equivalent salary providing a benefit greater than 75% of the IRTP scholarship rate to undertake the HDR. Income from sources unrelated to the study program is not subject to the 75% rule; and
  • Not receiving an equivalent Commonwealth award or scholarship designed to offset HDR fees.

Applicants should ensure that they submit their completed application, including all required supporting documents, by the application deadline. Incomplete and late applications will not be considered.
